I have owned Maine Coons cats (and a Norwegian Forest Cat, a cousin to the Maine Coon) my whole life--one is sweetly asleep a few feet from me as I type this--and I just adore them. They have a wonderful temperament, are very sociable, are much larger than your average cat breed with huge ears and paws, and are simply beautiful to behold.
