BEAUTY: Art--Glenn Carter
I have had the pleasure of visiting my friend, the artist Glenn Carter many times in his studio and seeing his quietly compelling and powerful work in person. Using a variety of fascinating materials such as steel wool sheets, Japanese sumi ink, string and thread, graphite, silver leaf, and cement in addition to traditional materials such as pastels, acrylics, oil paint and shellac/varnish, Carter creates works with a lovely spare aesthetic. Reminiscent of Japanese calligraphy and infused with a Zen sensibility, his works also speak to quantum physics as much as they do to the poetry of Basho.
