BEAUTY: Painting--Rick Stevens

These beautiful abstract paintings by Rick Stevens suggest autumn landscapes... I love the color palette and forms. So engaging.

BEAUTY: Photography--Jill Bliss

For my friends who tromp around in wet forests here in Northern California to forage mushrooms (hi Jeremy, hi Teddy!), here is the work of artist and photographer Jill Bliss who also tromps around in wet forests in the Pacific Northwest gathering fungi of all kinds to assemble into stunning arrangements with ferns, shells, leaves, and pine cones.

BEAUTY: Painting--Andrew McIntosh

In what is a very meta viewing experience, English painter Andrew McIntosh paints abandoned cut away buildings showing famous pieces of art by other famous artists (Sir Anthony Gormley, John Singer Sargent, Damien Hirst, Dali, Pollack, Giacometti, Matisse, Monet, and Whistler...). It's a clever approach but it makes for interesting narratives on their own!

"Send To Robin Immediately" by Robyn

Robyn's (previously here, here, and here) video for her newest song "Send To Robin Immediately" is a lovely, inclusive glimpse of a group of young, accepting, optimistic men and women enjoying life...and it is also a commercial for a line of club wear and athletic clothing she created in collaboration with Björn Borg's apparel company. I really love how her clothing logo "RBN" looks like the old RCA record label!

And her message is simple, concise, and urgent. It might seem cliché, but if you don't know it yet, you really don't have any time to waste. Your time is short and so it is for the people around you. Do it now.

If you got something to say, say it right away
If you got something to do, do what's right for you
If you got somebody to love, give that love today
Know you got nothing to lose

There's no time to waste
If you got a letter for me, send it right away
If you know that you really care, don't hold your breath
If you want the gold and the honey, come get it right away

BEAUTY: Painting--Linden Frederick

What I love most about Linden Frederick's work, aside from the Photo Realist style, is the fact that he chooses to show his New England small town homes and landscapes at twilight or evening. The resulting color palette is deep and rich...reminding me of certain Maxfield Parrish paintings. These lyrical images border on Romantic Realism...
