Don't Let Anyone Scare You About Socialism

Democratic Socialism is NOT Communism.

We already live in a partial Democratic Socialist society: your post office, your library, your fire department, your police department, your Medicare and Medicaid, all supported by tax payers who benefit from these services. This is Democratic Socialism which means political democracy with a socially owned economy.

Milk Train, Covent Garden, London

Just opened in a new, wonderfully designed location: Milk Train in Covent Garden, in London. I love the concept for the location: given the name Milk Train, commercial design firm FormRoom used the idea of Art Deco train stations as a natural inspiration. The results are clever and charming, referencing something very Old World, while still managing to feel very contemporary.

BEAUTY: Interiors--Jeff Schlarb

San Francisco interior designer Jeff Schlarb created a beautiful, interesting home for a couple in Healdsburg, which is in wine country in Northern California. Unique materials and unusual furnishings give this house an almost otherworldly sense. I especially love the handmade, green Kintsugi wallpaper in the dining room, made by Porter Teleo, one of my favorite wallcovering manufacturers.

The Simpson House Gets A Makeover!

Creative content consultancy firm NeoMam and interior design consultant Pat McNulty collaborated to give the cartoon family The Simpsons a much needed home make over. They rendered the original house as well as the proposed spaces in photorealistic 3D and the results are superb.

The living room is done in a modern luxe style.

The kitchen got a smart-home makeover with appliances connected to the internet.

Homer and Marge's bedroom has an urban, industrial feel.

Maggie's nursery received a soothing, gender-neutral scheme with a bit of tradition.

Lisa, true to her character, got a biophilic bedroom that makes space for oxygen-giving plants.

Bart's bedroom is covered in patterns, colors, and designs from the Italian Memphis design movement from the 80s.

And the family bathroom now feels like a tranquil spa.
