"Oceanside (Monkey Safari Remix) by Eli & Fur

Hazy, trippy, trancey. This is the Monkey Safari remix of Eli & Fur's song "Oceanside."

Music For The End Of The World, Part 3: "Ask Yourself" by Plastikman

Scoring the end of the world...

Why listen to me
I'm just a voice inside your head
I can't help you
Help yourself"

Music For The End Of The World, Part 1: "Ethhnicolor" by Jean Michel Jarre

Might as well score the end of the world ... let's start with "Ethnicolor" from Jean Michel Jarre's incredible album "Zoolook." This track features samples of Laurie Anderson among many other spoken word sections. It is an appropriate way to kick things off, right from the first howling, screaming moments.

"Soft Speak" by obli

After I posted "Sun Sun Sun" (here) by obli (the nom de musique of musician Chris Null), he released his full length album "Soft Speak," full of the same kind of hazy, trippy, glitchy sounds...it might be the summer album for me...

We Are the Boys of the Light Brigade

A very old friend of mine, along with a collaborator, has a new musical project called We Are the Boys of the Light Brigade. They say:

We are two old men, who, after some significant health trauma, decided to do what we want, which is make SYNTH POP.

Here are five fascinating songs, "The Sun," "Stay," "The Burning Bridge," "We Want It Now," and "Seventeen."
Great work, Adam...

Now It's Time For You To Meet Sunrom

I am loving these tracks from Paris-based electronic artist Sunrom (the nom de musique of Romain Nouhi) off his new EP entitled "Everlight."

"Dopamine" by Robyn

Robyn is back and I love her song "Dopamine," the first single from her as-yet-unnamed new album coming soon. It feels like another one of her "sad bangers" where the music bubbles along like a dance song but the melody and lyrics carry a lovely and tender weight and emotion...

"I Believe In You" by Ladytron

Mmmm, what a sultry, insidious groove in this new track, "I Believe In You" by Ladytron...and I love the shocking bass intrusion at 3:40.

"I'm Not Done" by Fever Ray

Ah, Fever Ray--the nom de musique of Karin Dreijer--just released a fantastic re-worked version of the song "I'm Not Done" from her first album. And the video brings together some of the wild and unsettling characters she has portrayed in the last many videos from subsequent Fever Ray releases.

"Reverberotic" by Alison Goldfrapp

Well, the amazing new music just keeps coming. Here is a heady, sensuous, hypnotizing song, "Reverberotic" from Alison Goldfrapp, previously here. Rushing, swirling, swooning...um...yeah...wow. Wait until it really kicks in at about the minute mark.

Her new album "Flux" is released August 15, 2025. Since she can't perform a bad song, I am so chuffed.

"Inept Apollo" by Nation of Language

There is a spate of great new music out suddenly! Here is a new track from Nation of Language, previously here. I love their sound which harkens back to 80s synth bands like Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark and Depeche Mode.

"Shy Girl" by Haute and Freddy

Haute and Freddy--the sparkling duo of Michelle Buzz and Lance Ship, (previously here)--have released a new lyric video for another of their songs, the charming "Shy Girl."

Shy shy shy shy girl
When you gonna run the whole wide world
I do recall there was madness in your eyes
Let it come out tonight
Let it come out tonight
And your sister and her boyfriend they can go and roll their eyes about it
And your mother and her friends can go to tea and write a book about it
‘Cause it’s staring you in the eyes every night
You wanna kiss it all goodbye and just live your life
Shy shy shy shy girl
When you gonna run the whole wide world
I do recall there was madness in your eyes
Let it come out tonight
Let it come out tonight
Well the way you walk the way you talk they never have to understand it
Ooo you change your hair and change your clothes and everybody starts to panic
But it’s staring you in the eyes every night
You wanna kiss it all goodbye and just live your life
Shy shy shy shy girl
When you gonna run the whole wide world
I do recall there was madness in your eyes
Let it come out tonight
Let it come out tonight

Currently listening to...

...this beautiful song "Say Goodbye" by Washed Out (the nom de musique of Ernest Greene Jr)...

Slow down, it's over now
I don't know why you cry
It's alright, keep going now
Just leave it all behind

I hope you'll find a way
You can love yourself again
I know it's hard sometimes
If you're strong, I think you'll find
All you need to say goodbye
Say goodbye

Say goodbye, say goodbye
Say goodbye, say goodbye

I know you've tried
I know you've failed each time
It's alright, keep going now
Just know you're worth the fight

Say goodbye, say goodbye
Say goodbye, say goodbye

Thematically--and sonically too--"Say Goodbye" reminds me of the equally beautiful "New Jade" by Caribou (the nom de musique of Dan Snaith). Both are songs offering tender support and a better future for someone who needs it...

Now you’re gone for good,
Been through more than anyone should,
And in time you’ll see,
How much better off you will be

And don’t you believe what he said,
Locked up inside of his head,
You’ve got your children with you,
To give you the strength to get through.

It’s like a new first kiss,
Yeah you can start feeling glad,
‘Cause you’re not going to miss,
Something that you’ve never had,

Don’t you believe what he says,
It’s always lies anyways,
You’ve been waiting for so long,
And now he’s finally gone.

"Girl Feels Good" by FKA Twigs

OK, so blown away...by this incredible track from FKA Twigs' (previously) new album "Eusexua." This song "Girl Feels Good" sounds like a lost track from Madonna's phenomenal "Ray of Light" and I love it. So much.

"Your mother’s sister’s lover’s heart is where there’s healing."
Yes.

I fear the man
Who finds himself lost
In tales of war, delusions of more
Beautiful boys
I wish you knew how precious you are
Your mother’s sister’s lover’s heart is where there’s healing

When a girl feels good
It makes the world goes 'round
When the night feels young
You know she feels pretty
A girl feels good
And the world goes 'round
Turn your love up loud
To keep the devil down

When a girl feels good, you’ll know
When a girl feels good, you’ll know

When a girl feels good
She’s gonna keep you around
When a girl feels good, you’ll know

My city guy
Your boots on the gas of life
Hurry up baby, take your time
Don’t wanna force it
Want you to touch it

My sweet demise
A man who doesn’t know his mind
It’s okay baby, take your time
We’re gonna make it
Wanna enjoy it

When a girl feels good
It makes the world goes 'round
When the night feels young
You know she feels pretty
A girl feels good
And the world goes 'round
Turn your love up loud
To keep the devil down

When a girl feels good, you’ll know
When a girl feels good, you’ll know

When a girl feels good
The honey bees to the flower
When a girl feels good, you’ll know

Twigs made an appearance at the most recent Rick Owens show in Paris, for his Fall Winter '25-'26 collection...wearing amazing Owens boots.
