"The Lake" by Fever Ray

On the heels of yesterday's International Women's Day, here is Fever Ray (the nom de musique of Karin Dreijer), previously here, performing "The Lake" from the new film "The Bride" written and directed by Maggie Gyllenhaal and starring the award-winning--and Oscar-nominated--actress and singer Jessie Buckley, previously here. A trio of talented, strong women. Fever Ray makes an appearance in the film and I believe it is this footage we see below... we can see The Bride dancing in the audience...

"I'm Not Done" by Fever Ray

Ah, Fever Ray--the nom de musique of Karin Dreijer--just released a fantastic re-worked version of the song "I'm Not Done" from her first album. And the video brings together some of the wild and unsettling characters she has portrayed in the last many videos from subsequent Fever Ray releases.

"What They Call Us" by Fever Ray

Karin Dreijer is back as Fever Ray with a brand new song. "What They Call Us" is a sonic and visual enigma: repressed skitterings and a narrative that calls out actual repression....and I love it. Take a look at the stunning video below.

First I’d like to say that I’m sorry
I’ve done all the tricks that I can
Cinnamon bun in the oven
There’s a fire in my hand

Did you see the light this morning
Sometimes there’s this extra air
Sometimes I can keep my mouth open
I will stay if I dare

Did you hear what they call us?
Did you hear what they said?
My plan was flexible
Don’t get stuck anywhere

Can I just hold you for a minute
Some things just ain't easy to repair
The person who came here was broken
Can you fix it, can you care?

Did you hear what they call us?
Did you hear what they said?
I’ve got a plan that’s flexible
Just don’t stop anywhere

It’s a common misperception
This is not a band
Ready for a dissection
Now Mommy’s gotta work, see the land

Did you hear what they call us?
Did you hear what they said?
I’ve got a plan that’s flexible
Just don’t stop anywhere

Currently listening to...

..."When I Grow Up" by Fever Ray: inexplicable, joyous, neo-primal, fascinating.
