The Ice Cream Project at The Village Hall 2024
If you're in London, you have a few more weeks to visit Anya Hindmarch's's summer pop up ice cream shop (previously here)! Returning for its third year, The Ice Cream Project has come home to The Village from 7th June – 18th August, serving a line up of unexpectedly delicious ice creams and sorbets. There are some brand new flavors--with a few return cameos--based on Anya Hindmarch’s favorite cult food brands.
I am a huge fan of interestingly flavored (including savory as well as sweet!) ice creams, sorbets, and granitas and Anya Hindmarch has created some wild flavors. I wish I were going to be in London this summer to sample some of these amazing flavors!

The Ice Cream Project at The Village Hall
I am huge fan of interestingly flavored (including savory as well as sweet!) ice creams, sorbets, and granitas and Anya Hindmarch has created some wild flavors based on classic British flavors for a summer pop up shop in London. Her site lists the inspirations:
The Ice Cream Project
Our high summer concept store, The Ice Cream Project, will be open at The Village from 9th July - 28th August, serving up a collection of unexpected and delicious ice creams and sorbets which celebrate Anya Hindmarch’s favourite cult food brands.
With sleek silver freezers packed full of ice cream pots, the Ice Cream Project is a minimalist temple to the joy of ice cream and sorbet, with a twist – the household names inspiring our ice creams are typically found in the pantry rather than the freezer; think savoury sauces, condiments, tea, breakfast cereals and even baked beans. Plus, discover the inspiration behind the taste sensations – our Anya Brands accessories collection.

Heinz Salad Cream
The ‘original tangy taste’ ice cream with a hint of heat

The Village Hall

located a short walk from both Sloane Square and Knightsbridge tube stations. Pop in and let us know how it was! I'm fascinated with the HP and Baked Beans flavors. I wish I could taste them!

BEAUTY: Porcelain--Jacqueline Tse
Sculptor Jacqueline Tse created her Death By Sugar series in unglazed porcelain without any color because, as she says, "I find color very visually addictive, especially colors on smart phone screens. In the current fast pace digital world where we are constantly bombarded with messages of consumption throughout social media, I wanted to pull away from that distraction so the viewer can be present and focus on the details and form. Hiding behind the enchanting sugar surface are subliminal messages against the over indulgent contemporary society, and how I fell victim to this disease. To bring awareness that our desire for consumption is an escape from ourselves and inner truths. These works are fueled by my personal love-hate relationship with sugar and part memento mori. It is an ode to my obsessive and indulgent nature, childhood nostalgia, love of pastry arts, frustration, and ultimately, acceptance of my addiction to sugar."

Milk Train, Covent Garden, London
Just opened in a new, wonderfully designed location: Milk Train in Covent Garden, in London. I love the concept for the location: given the name Milk Train, commercial design firm FormRoom used the idea of Art Deco train stations as a natural inspiration. The results are clever and charming, referencing something very Old World, while still managing to feel very contemporary.
