BEAUTY: Mixed Media--Pia Habekost

Multi-disciplinary artist Pia Habekost was born in Germany but is now based in Los Angeles where she assembles her marvelous creations...she paints, draws, and layers vinyl text over fashion editorials on canvas, paper, and metal. When I first encountered her work, it seemed as though her forms took on a kind of Cy Twombly-esque randomness and repetition, with squiggles and strokes making a texture. But then I looked closer and discovered the text and images amongst the many layers. Intriguing work...
