BEAUTY: Architecture--Twisting Courtyard House

What a phenomenal reinvention of a traditional courtyard house in China by architecture studio Arch Studio. Courtyard houses, called siheyuan, date back many centuries and are made of four houses arranged around a central area connecting the structures with a series of pathways and plantings. But this courtyard house got a 21st century makeover with planes of grey brick in the courtyard caressing and invading the houses, insinuating itself onto the architecture, and becoming flooring and walls as it slithers around. It's simple but the results are arresting. It feels like a slice of the future but this kind of biophilic design is bringing the future to now...
