"Fade Into You" by American Football with Miya Folick

Wow, this one took me by surprise. The indie group American Football covers Mazzy Star's classic, haunting song "Fade Into You," and manages to make it at once more accessible and more haunting! It starts as a whisper but really builds to a profound crescendo.

And the video is a beautiful, heartbreaking meditation on what it is to be alive...we jump from person to person, in everyday places and seemingly mundane settings (although a few are anything but). Watch and take in each situation, person, and meaning as the world goes round and round...

I wanna hold the hand inside you
I wanna take the breath that's true
I look to you and I see nothing
I look to you to see the truth

You live your life, you go in shadows
You'll come apart and you'll go black
Some kind of night into your darkness
Colors your eyes with what's not there

Fade into you
Strange you never knew
Fade into you
I think it's strange you never knew

A stranger's light comes on slowly
A stranger's heart is out of home
You put your hands into your head
A million smiles cover your heart

Fade into you
Strange you never knew
Fade into you
I think it's strange you never knew

Fade into you
Strange you never knew
Fade into you
I think it's strange you never knew
I think it's strange you never knew
