BEAUTY: Clothing--Lederhosen
Since Oktoberfest starts today, September 20, 2014, let's honor the traditional, oft-maligned Bavarian lederhosen. There is something dashing and exotic about these leather shorts...an interesting combination of manly, animal erotic sexiness and country naiveté. Works for me...

Robert Downey Jr. sported lederhosen to the premiere of "Iron Man 3."

Schloss Neuschwanstein in Snow
Started in 1869 and completed in 1884, Schloss Neuschwanstein in Bavaria was built for King Ludwig II. It was opened to the public almost immediately after the strange and mysterious death of the King on the shore of nearby Lake Starnberg.
We know of Schloss Neuschwanstein in popular culture as the inspiration for Sleeping Beauty's castle by Disney (and those structures are the central feature at Disney theme parks around the world) and the location for the film "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang."
When I visited Schloss Neuschwanstein many many years ago, our tour guide, while leading us down a hall between stops, pointed out a tiny window and casually announced that through it, one may see Swan Lake. Swan Lake? THE Swan Lake? She continued on while we all sputtered, and crowded to the window for a glimpse of one of the most famous lakes in the world.

The Castle is open to the public. Visit the website for more information:
