BEAUTY: Shoes--Salvatore Ferragamo
Paul Andrew now helms the house of Salvatore Ferragamo, and this Spring Summer '20 show at Pitti Uomo marked not only the first time Ferragamo has shown in the house's hometown of Florence, but the first time any fashion show has been allowed to take place in the historic Piazza della Signoria just off the Arno. While the clothing was pleasant enough, it was the shoes (of course, since Ferragamo was originally a shoe designer) that got me.
A wedge espadrille is fantastic (love!) but just take a look at the other hybrid invention: a suede sock-shoe permanently attached to a flat sandal held on with cord! Incredible!

BEAUTY: Clothing--Richard James
I am posting this collection by Richard James not so much for the clothing pieces themselves--they are pleasant enough, with conventional cuts and shapes--but for the amazing variety of espadrilles he is showing in his Spring/Summer '14 collection at London Collections: Men! I ADORE each and every one of these bright, fun, classic shoes--please do click to see them larger. Embroidered flowers in many hues and combinations can only be surpassed by sequins (final set of photos). And what truly makes them work so well is the contrast between them and the traditional blazers and classic sportswear. I will take them all, please.
