Green Gartside is the mastermind behind, and the founding member of Scritti Politti, a musical group that has been around since 1977. Back in the 80s, he sported a head of beautiful golden hair and looked like an angel (top two pictures). He took a step back from the public spotlight but re-emerged in 2006 with a new release. Although I miss the long golden tresses, I was pleased to see him looking as he should--older, wiser, with some life and experience in his handsome face (bottom two pictures).He sings like an angel too--still does. One of Scritti's biggest hits was 1984's "Wood Beez (Pray Like Aretha Franklin)" seen below. His breathy, processed delivery combined with a unique interpretation of an American funk/soul sound made for a danceable yet intelligent song.
