BEAUTY: Art--Erik Olson
Erik Olson is based in Detroit, an American city that has, sadly, virtually turned into a ghost town. There are whole swaths, entire neighborhoods, that are simply abandoned. Olson paints these ruined, collapsed homes that once housed well-to-do Victorian families. His simplified locations are heartbreaking, and the shadows subliminally add so much emotion. It looks as is we are seeing everything at sunset, the end of the day... and the end of an era, the end of life for these structures.
