BEAUTY: Photography--Trine Søndergaard

Danish visual artist Trine Søndergaard trained as a painter but her website exclusively features her simple, evocative photography. Her series "Interiors" presents haunting images of abandoned buildings. Of particular interest are the unusual short stair runs to a rather theatrical platform under a window. Is this a common feature in older Danish structures? Anyone?
