BEAUTY: Clothing--Vivienne Westwood

Dame Westwood and her husband Andreas Kronthaler have presented a very sedate (by Westwood standards) collection for Fall-Winter '14-'15. Her extracurricular concerns for the last decade or so have been about climate change, and rightfully so. It is one of, if not the major concern facing the planet today. So her concurrent concern with this collection is about the controversial practice of "fracking," the damaging process of drilling and injecting toxic fluids into the ground at a high pressure in order to fracture shale rocks to release natural gas inside. This harmful practice surely must have colored Westwood and Kronthaler's vision--or rather, it leached the color out. The collection is generally a toned down one--there are no Westwood kilts or tartans, no Westwood Pirate jackets... but there remains however the customary, fantastic cut of the Westwood suit. And the shoes, as always, are incredible.

Note the models' hair... a fake, plastic, Ken doll-like helmet of molded hair graced each one.
