BEAUTY: Clothing--Andrea Pompilio
Andrea Pompilio seems to be aiming for an ever younger demographic, especially with his Fall-Winter '14-'15 collection at Milano Moda Uomo. Pompilio seemed to be channeling a little boy, perhaps a British school boy whose favorite book is A BEAR CALLED PADDINGTON... look at the bright yellow duffel overcoat! In fact, bright colors stand out beautifully in this collection intended for the darker, colder months. Why not have some fun? And Pompilio has always shown that he has a sense of humor. Look at his cute, unexpected "Harry Potter Goes Ape" collection for F-W '12-'13 here!
Everything that came down the runway was layered, with the bottoms of extra long tee shirts flapping under another layer or two of pullovers, the expected silhouette for many young boys today. There was a cute little fur cap that looked like a stunted shako. When Pompilio put his models in suits, they either referenced pajamas, or the models ended up looking they are playing dress-up in their dads' clothing. And for an unexpected graphic touch, images of Eadweard Muybridge's late 1800s anatomical studies of the movements of naked men show up on tees and jackets!
