BEAUTY: Painting--Ted Pim
Ted Pim started as a graffiti artist, roaming around Europe and the United States searching out abandoned buildings in which to create his pieces: not spray painted tags or geometric designs but homages to the likes of Caravaggio and Rembrandt. Now Pim is working on large canvases juxtaposing his Baroque floral arrangements on top of a reference to another piece of art that greatly influenced Pim: Francis Bacon's Head II. The eerie white chalk lines delineating a finite reality chafe against the sumptuousness of the color of the flowers. Yet, these flowers are melting, disintegrating, like a figure in a Bacon painting.
