BEAUTY: Collage--Jessa Dupuis

Regular readers know I have a fondness for exceptionally well executed collage art. I have been making my own creations for a while now (here, here, here, and here) and I find the medium to be expansive.

So I especially love it when I find a collage artist who pushes the boundaries of what collage can be. Canadian artist Jessa Dupuis uses found vintage imagery with other materials like gouache, watercolor, and pencil, all on the unexpected substrate of used book covers. But even more impressive are her "tunnel books" as she calls them: a cut out in the cover of a book burrows deep into the body creating a sort of shadow box, revealing vintage images in a marvelous kaleidoscopic burst. It's all simply enchanting.
