I just love her so much. I think it's interesting that she remembered it incorrectly (remember back when we couldn't look things up but had to rely on memory?)

Wow, I recall my college screening ALL of Berlin Alexanderplatz... I was taking film courses then and this particular one was not mandatory. But I managed to see about 5 out of the 14 hours...not something you can come and go from. But I did not see this scene. Thanks for finding and sharing!

I actually like her lily better than carnations since white lily as a death flower REALLY captures what the one-armed man was trying to say. Days pull us towards our death. That's all.

I came thisclose to getting a white lily tattoo because I'm so attached to the phrase and the sentiment; I wound up getting the words ("days go by... into the future") instead because I am very attached to Being Accurate but I also agree with you that a white lily seems more appropriate.
