"Turn The World On" by Bombay Bicycle Club

Bombay Bicycle Club's (previously here) new song "Turn The World On" made me weep, lyrics and video. Don't make me explain why...

You always think you've blinked and missed it
on your last lap round the sun
I never felt so optimistic
since the days when I was young
I'd dream of growing old
and all the things I thought I would have done

Turn the world on

You'll make a fine young man
you'll smooth it out you'll see where I went wrong
You'll find your merry gang
they'll hang their bags a couple pegs along
They're leaving one by one
they're calling out they're begging you to come

Turn the world on

You make your bed just how you wanna
Make your bed how you intend
You take the page and fold the corner
Try to skip right to the end

You'll dream of moving on
to all the things you thought you would have done

Turn the world on
(It won't wait for you)

Their new release "My Big Day" will be out October 20, 2023.

"Everything Else Has Gone Wrong" by Bombay Bicycle Club

I have always loved Bombay Bicycle Club (previously here and here) but their newest song, "Everything Else Has Gone Wrong" has an intense, profound video!

Currently listening to...

...the charming, breezy and care-free "Lights Out, Words Gone" by Bombay Bicycle Club. I've had this on "repeat" most of the evening.

Although the video is cute enough, I don't think it does the song justice. The lyrics are not so breezy and care-free, and the images distract from the tension between the music and the meaning.

Keep your old and wasted word
My heart is breaking like you heard
But the town has always turned
these lies and made them all burn

Keep your old and wasted words
My heart is breaking like you heard
but the town has always turned
these lies and made them all burn

Let me be the one to put on
Let me be the one to try it on

Can you feel the leeches bite
That boy that she took out tonight
He's brave and walking sure
through all the spots you're working for

Keep your old and wasted words
My heart is breaking like you heard
but the town has always turned
these lies and made them all burn

Let me be the one to put on
Let me be the one to try it on

When the light is out
when the words have gone
let me be the one to try it on

...Bombay Bicycle Club perform the sweet "How Can You Swallow So Much Sleep."
I love this video because I do this--or something like it--every night.
