BEAUTY: Sculpture--Shao Fan

In the title of this post, I refer to Shao Fan's work as "sculpture" but his pieces exist as functioning furniture as well. He blends the style, shape, and lines of traditional Ming Dynasty-era Chinese furniture with a very modern sensibility. Yoke back chairs and altar tables collide with steel, chrome, and acrylic, making a comment on the past and future of China as well as the collision of east and west. These hybrid pieces would look great in a gallery or in a formal living room...
