BEAUTY: Illustration--Chiaki Okada

Japanese children's book illustrator does absolutely gorgeous work. These tender, sweet illustrations for the book HARU-CHAN AND RABBIT-KUN make my heart ache...the little rabbit carries with him a stuffed alligator. I mean, come on, if your heart doesn't melt at that, then you are lost.

Take a look at some of her work for other books...it speaks to me of an innocence and benevolence that feels so far away now.

BEAUTY: Illustration--Emilia Dziubak

Close friends of mine know I have a thing for bunnies...and I always say at every Easter, it you want to see me turn into a five-year old boy, show me bunnies. The beautiful illustrations by Emilia Dziubak for this Polish children's story by Barbara Kosmowska about Tru the bunny look absolutely charming, and remind me so much of the lovely work of Michael Sowa (previously here) who portrays bunnies trying to maneuver and survive in a human world. The sweetness is touched by poignancy...
