BEAUTY: Fabric Art--Ana Teresa Barboza
Ana Teresa Barboza works with embroidery on fabric to create powerful images. It is clear that she has an uneasy relationship with animals and the natural world.
She also shows a fascination with the physicality of human life, the fact of us, the bone-and-guts of us, and how embroidery and working with fabric is a metaphor for the visceral experience of life.
In fact, Barboza views sewing, and handwork on fabric as more than a metaphor--she has an emotional and psychological connection that is about her life blood. The translation of the embroidered eerie text below is: "Then I had to learn to sew."

BEAUTY: Soft Sculpture--Cecile Dachary
French artist Cecile Dachary works in many mediums including ceramic, but her fabric, crochet, and embroidery work is utterly fascinating because of its unconventional subject matter. She uses the human body as a springboard for studies of our internal organs and bacteria that can live in or on us. It is beautiful and startling work.
Top to bottom: hanging bacteria; bacteria in a jar; single bacteria; cushions embroidered with human internal organs; organs and vascular system under a cloche; organs in three cloches; Peau (Skin); le Potager des Organes (The Vegetable Garden of Organs)
Look at her website for examples of her work in other mediums:
