BEAUTY: Interior--Lauren Liess

Interior and lifestyle designer Lauren Liess created a stunning villa for a client that blends ancient and modern with organic elements. The result is Tuscan by way of the Tropics. I love the reclaimed Jerusalem stone on the barrel vaulted ceiling in the dining room as well as on the kitchen walls and range hood, and the outrageously large master bathroom which features dark cement-and-waterproof-stucco shower walls.

Gemstone Planets From Deskspace

Deskspace is a set of semi-precious stones representing each of the planets in our solar system. The beautiful spheres are cradled in a wooden base and while their website doesn't list the stones, I believe I can identify them as labradorite, moonstone, sodalite, jasper, tiger eye, yellow and green aventurine, and possibly lapis lazuli.

It is easy to forget that glass is not a solid--it is a a liquid. And these marvelous vases by Erik Olovsson of Studio E.O. in Stockholm bring that point home. I love how each vase has been blown to drape, droop, slip, or slide over a gorgeous polished piece of marble, granite, or onyx. Playful, whimsical, and biomorphic.
