BEAUTY: Interiors--The Grimes House by PROjECT
I love this amazing, moody interior for a house in Hinsdale, a suburb of Chicago, by design studio PROjECT. Made for the Grimes family, it proves that one can create successful interiors without color. This traditional home was updated and brought into the 21st century with judicious use of texture, material, pattern, contrast, and use of light and shadow. Dramatic but not untouchable. I particularly love the long-fringed white leather host chairs in the dining room, the hand-painted silver squiggles on the music room's walls and ceiling, the unique snapshot wallpaper in the library, and the white monkey wall light by Seletti in the master bedroom. It's touches like these that elevate a living space into a special realm.
