Villanelle and Eve and Jade

The phenomenal band Unloved has been a favorite of mine for a while (previously here) and it has been a delight to hear their music prominently featured on the BBC crime-spy drama/comedy/thriller "Killing Eve." And I am also delighted that "Killing Eve" is back for a third season...

And Unloved debuted a new song that is used in this new season, "Why Not?"

And because I just LOVE them, I thought I would share two of their songs which recur in the series: The amazing "Mama" and the gloriously sultry "When A Woman Is Around." Of their distinctive sound, the band's Facebook page says (lower case letters on purpose) "if the shangri las got locked in a studio with lee hazzlewood, nancy sinatra and raymond scott and ennio morricone it could possibly sound like unloved", and in an interview band member David Holmes cites as influences "primitive 50s electronics, old raucous rock and roll, and rhythm and blues, and girl groups." The resulting sound is mesmerizing and chilling...an evocative combination of lead singer Jade Vincent's voice and the band's music.
