BEAUTY: Illustration For Winter--Gerard Dubois

In collaboration with Japanese department store group Mitsukoshi Isetan, French illustrator Gerard Dubois created an homage to an antique view of what the future could possibly look like in his series Nostalgic Merry and Delightful Future Christmas. The images have a charming quality with little hints of a mechanical future that never actually arrived...with levitating robots, Victorian space helmets, jet packs for reindeer, android nannies, and a flying snow machine cage.

BEAUTY: Photography--Alex Prager

Filmmaker and fine art photographer Alex Prager shot a video (with accompanying stills) for Nordstrom's Fall 2016 campaign. Prager's usual style is in full force here with crystal clear images of crowds full of, um, unique people.

“Our lives are moving so fast--at lightning speed--and in particular, our industry, dictated by the internet, social media and this constant urge for newness all the time, has embraced sayings like 'see now, buy now, wear now,'" said Olivia Kim, vice president of creative projects at Nordstrom, Seattle. "We forget how to enjoy the moment we’re in, appreciate where we’re standing, or even remember to look up and see the sky," she said.

I love the hyper-real, dream-like sense of the video itself which seems to slow down and highlight individual moments where fate seems to intervene and bring us a new experience, a new person, a new place, or a new perspective of ourselves.

"In partnership with world-recognized artist Alex Prager, we wanted to capture and recognize that moment," Ms. Kim said. "Using modes of transportation as a metaphor of speed, and as the literal representation of how we get from here to there, the fall 2016 brand campaign also emphasizes that within a crowd, there are countless individual stories and unique experiences, that are all worth recognizing."

Fashion Santa

Mature and supremely handsome editorial and runway fashion model Paul Mason is a new kind of "mall Santa" at the Yorkdale Mall in Toronto, Canada. And for every selfie with Mason/Santa that gets posted on social media using the hashtag #YorkdaleFashionSanta, the Mall will donate a dollar to the SickKids Foundation. If you're in Toronto, drop in and snap a picture with this gorgeous man...it's for a good cause! He only has a few more appearances scheduled: December 18th and 19th from noon to 8PM, December 20th from 11AM to 7PM, and December 23rd from noon to 8PM. And if you do, tell me how he smells... I am hoping for a Dolce and Gabbana cologne mixed with a delicious beard pomade...

Mason as Santa at the Yorkdale Mall: instead of a bright red velvet coat, it's a slim-cut burgundy velvet Ferragamo jacket; instead of fur trim, it's a Tartan cashmere wrap. I love his style sensibility since I dress exactly like this in the winter! If I grow my beard, we could be twins (almost).

And check out the Mr. Claus campaign he did for the exclusive Mexican department store El Palacio de Hierro!
