BEAUTY: Painting--Heather Watts
Heather Watts paints lovely scenes of anthropomorphized animals and although they might seem "cute" and "fluffy" to the causal observer, these pieces are reminiscent of powerful fairy tales and folk lore complete with a dark edge and a possible gruesome outcome.
The Weary Shepherd is heartbreaking, and Pearls Of Wisdom is full of sly humor, but I really love the bottom piece, Tree of Life... and how the protecting angels in the tree have owl heads. This image feels ripe with Jungian archetypes and symbolism.
