BEAUTY: Illustration--Pat Perry
Grand Rapids Michigan is home to commercial and fine artist Pat Perry. He has created work for high profile clients such as Urban Outfitters, Ogilvy and Mather, Fearless Records, K2 Skis, and Bonnaroo. But his personal work (which includes large scale oil paintings) starts with his trusty Moleskine notebook which he apparently takes with him everywhere. This ends up being a kind of visual diary, a journal, an amorphous and dreamlike scrapbook. I was really struck at the freedom, the stream-of-consciousness feeling, and the skill he exhibits in his source material. Do yourself a favor and click on each one of these to better see the fascinating details. Or better yet, go to his website, to the section called PROCESS to see even more examples.
