BEAUTY: Painting--Joel Rea
Australian artist Joel Rea paints in a very realistic style, but his fantastical scenes feature people--and dogs--in flight. Considering my life-long flying dreams, these canvases have captured my imagination. Flying of one's own power is such an archetypal concept and Rea's work taps into all the accompanying ideas: escape, flying versus falling, being in control versus being under the control of gravity, a sense of higher knowledge...
