The Wiener Chair by Gabriella Asztalos

I am entranced by this sensuous, self-confident chair from product designer Gabriella Asztalos. She calls this The Wiener chair  because it is a fantasia on the classic bentwood Thonet chair, known as the Number 14 or Bistro Chair, from Vienna, which featured a rounded, shield back and cane seat. Asztalos' version takes the shield back to a delicious extreme and shifts the caning to the newly enlarged ovoid shape which also serves as back legs. It is a marvel of design.
