BEAUTY: Interior Design--Corey Damen Jenkins' Apartment
As an interior designer, I am more drawn to pattern, color, texture, and interesting objects than I am to a minimalist interior. While a calming, Zen-like space has its place and use, I think spaces that feel alive and organic, spaces that reference cultures and art and time periods are more engaging and successful.
So I love the New York CIty apartment famed interior designer Corey Damen Jenkins (previously here) created for himself and his husband Adam Wasserman. It strikes a perfect balance of all the afore-mentioned qualites without being overwhelming. Each element is delicious but expert pairing from a skilled designer elevates all choices!

BEAUTY: Interior Design--Hendricks Churchill
For this 4,000 square foot apartment in a new building in New York City's Carnegie Hill neighborhood, architecture firm Hendricks Churchill took a route that is unexpected. So many of these of these new high-rise apartments are designed in a style that is a little on the minimal side, a little on the neutral side, and, while appointed with well-made and luxurious items, can read a little on the uneventful side. But here, the team furnished the spaces with color, pattern, wood, and an appealing artistic sensibility, mixing contemporary and antique pieces, bringing a delightful sense of life and interest to the entire home.

BEAUTY: Interior Design--The Power of Black by M. James Design Group
As an interior designer, I can attest that in general, clients are very afraid of dark colors. People have a morbid fear of a dark wall color but just look how it creates presence, drama, and expansiveness in this Houston apartment designed by M. James Design Group. I love that they boldly specified Black by Benjamin Moore for the wall of casework in the living room and for the primary bedroom and bath to begin with, but I also heartily congratulate them for getting their client on board (no easy task). It really does elevate and transform the spaces.

BEAUTY: Interiors--Hubert Zandberg
I have just run across collector and interior designer Hubert Zandberg's work and I am smitten. As an interior designer myself, I greatly admire his skill...he seems to be untethered to any design styles or periods and instead utilizes his imagination to create wholly unique, rich interiors. I love his intricate, fascinating approach to layering: not only color, pattern, shape, and texture but objects as well. Antiques and indeed objects of true antiquity mix with contemporary pieces to form a sort a highly personal, highly detailed application of design principles. I want to visit each of these rooms below and study all the art, sculptures, and fabrics. Each space seems ready to tell incredible stories.
