"Home" by Rufus Joseph
Powerful. Yearning. Authentic.
"Home" by Rufus Joseph.
Let′s go home
We can't hide here anymore
All alone
Watching skies become small
Let′s go home
We have fought for so long
We have proof that we're strong
Let's go home
Let′s go home
And I just wanna come back, run flat
Hear my mother cry about my growth
I just wanna unpack, fall flat
On my old bed and lie with my ghost
Walk into the garden, hardened
Let the rain seep straight into my bones
Find my old friend, make amends
Say goodbye, with a hand to his headstone
Let′s go home, Let's go home
Let′s go home, Let's go home
Let′s go home, let's go home
I just want the time to slow in a life that I have earned
See the place my lines were drawn, embrace the roots and burns
I will stand in place and shine until the monsters learn
The scars have faded, the dark′s now shade and they cannot return
Let's go home, let's go home
Let′s go home, let′s go home
Let's go home, let′s go home
Let's go home, let′s go home
Let's go home, let′s go home
Let's go home, let's go home
There was a time I felt this ... this yearning, this need, to return and go back to a place or time called home, so powerful it manifested in my body, and made me sick ...and I get it, I am with him, every word.

"Children Of The Sun" by Dead Can Dance
The history of mankind.
"Children Of The Sun" by Dead Can Dance.
Glorious. Epic. Powerful.
We are ancients
As ancient as the sun
We came from the ocean
Once our ancestral home
So that one day
We could all return
To our birthright
The great celestial dome
We are the children of the sun
Our journey's just begun
Sunflowers in our hair
We are the children of the sun
There is room for everyone
Sunflowers in our hair
Throughout the ages
Of iron, bronze, and stone
We marveled at the night sky
And what may lie beyond
We burned offerings
To the elemental ones
Made sacrifices
For beauty, peace and love
We are the children of the sun
Our kingdom will come
Sunflowers in our hair
We are the children of the sun
Our carnival's begun
Our suns will fill the air
And you know it's time
To look for reasons why
Just reach up and touch the sky
To the heavens we'll ascend
We are the children of the sun
Our journey has begun
All the older children
Come out at night
Anemic, soulless
Great hunger in their eyes
Unaware of the beauty
That sleeps tonight
And all the queen's horses
And all the king's men
Will never put these children back
Together again
Faith, hope, our charities
Greed, sloth, our enemies
We are the children of the sun
We are the children of the sun
I am happy to see that, despite the fact that Brendan Perry vowed never to set foot in the United States while that buffoon was in office (and I can't blame him), Dead Can Dance are touring North American this year. Go see them!

"Feel More / With Less" by UNKLE with Liela Moss, Miink, & Philip Sheppard
This song, "Feel More / With Less" by UNKLE has a sound and texture that touches my heart and reaches into a place of emotion...the start is trembling but it ends up in a big place.
How do you know
This feeling when I'm awake
How do you know that
Yeah, how do you know
Confidence on the floor
How do you know that
I feel more with less
I feel more with less
Show me how you wanna live
Show me how you pain relieve
How deep you sleep
Show me how you hide yourself
Show me
Stand up for me
Stand up for me
I feel more with less
I feel more with less
I feel more with less
I feel more with less
I feel more with less
How do I know
The way I'm gonna go
Well, I follow the lights
In front of your eyes
Innocence and lies
How is it so
Yeah, how do I know
The way I'm gonna go
I follow the lights
In front of your eyes
Innocence and lies
How is it so
I feel more with less
I feel more with less
I feel more with less

"The Carnival is Over" by Shirin Neshat featuring Cate Blanchett and Anohni
Apropos of yesterday's lovely video of female unity and power by Cher here, visual artist, filmmaker, and photographer Shirin Neshat has created an amazing video starring the always-powerful Cate Blanchett and the voice of transgender singer-songwriter Anohni.
“For a long time my work has focused on women and the ways in which they defy society’s repressive codes. I was interested in how female singers are universally treated as objects of desire. At first, Cate looks gorgeous, but when she sings it’s a transgender’s voice. The audience heckles her, and she becomes confrontational. When the music comes back on, she does a seductive dance but her face is evil. For her final act of subversion, she takes off her hair and makeup and walks away. That part was Cate’s idea. F**k the beauty.”
Neshat and Blanchett do not have sites.

"Monkey God" by Tim Booth
Just came across this AMAZING live performance by Tim Booth (lead singer of the group James) of his song "Monkey God," from his 2005 solo release "Bone." Listen to how this already powerful song gets even more hypnotic and powerful at around the 3:30 mark...driving, forceful, transcendent...
I love his tranced, ecstatic dancing.
We co-create our own fate
Everything's connected
God in man, man's an ape
Everything's connected
We co-create our own fate
Everything's connected
Man from stars, man from ape
My behavior's chemical
Nurture, biological
Determined by the stars in space
Don't rely on suicide
Meet you on the other side
It's not even your life to take
See things from the stratosphere
We're so unimportant here
What's the point in asking why?
Struggle of the underdog
Too much love or not enough
We die to live and live to die
Meanwhile in the stratosphere
Houston, we've a problem here
Someone's cut a hole in the sky
Planet in a Petri dish
Interference, hit and miss
Soon there won't be rivers to cry
God's pitch shift, way out of time
Created an ape infected with the spark of divine
Mix X with the Y chromosome
One to destroy, the other tries to find a way home,
Home,
Home,
HOME
We co-create our own fate
Everything's connected

Everything's connected
