BEAUTY: Clothing
Siki Im: German-born of Korean parents, Oxford educated, citizen of Manhattan, ex-architect. He may be relatively new to the fashion scene, having created only four collections since 2010, but he has previously worked under the Karl Lagerfeld and Helmut Lang labels. For his most recent solo collection for Fall/ Winter 2011, he took inspiration from Native American designs and sensibility. He worked with noted Navajo weaver Tahnibaa Naataanii to create blankets and wraps. The live show featured live drumming, a dirt runway, and models with heavy-lidded eye paint (referencing war paint) and fur wrapped pigtails. Im calls the collection "Silent Thunderbird Prayer."
