BEAUTY: Clothing--Simone Rocha

For her London Fashion Week collection, Simone Rocha looked to weddings for inspiration. I am always fascinated by what designers cite as inspiration, but more than that, I am fascinated with how they manifest that inspiration. Rocha's co-ed SS '24 show was all about garlands, sheer tulle, pearls, and crystals. I am only showing the menswear here, which was, interesting given the inspiration, a riff on athleisure wear. Even though there might have been silhouettes of track suits and motorcycle jackets, it all came in duchess satin, sometimes ruched, festooned with enormous fabric rosettes, floral garlands from the sides of wedding cakes ("cotton icing" according to Rocha), bows, and sashes. I get the color palette of black, white, and Tiffany blue, but silver-foiled leather showed up along with a curious dark mustard color...
