"I'm Amazing" by Peter Gabriel

New from Peter Gabriel: "I'm Amazing."
In a post on Facebook, Gabriel said, "I wrote a song a few years back - 'I’m Amazing', which was, in part, inspired by Muhammad Ali’s life and struggles and at the time of his death, when so many people are celebrating his life and thinking about all he achieved, it seemed the right time to release it."

BEAUTY: Interiors--Lake Tahoe Cabin by Jeff Andrews

Los Angeles interior designer Jeff Andrews created a marvelous rustic getaway for clients in Lake Tahoe. I love how this luxury "cabin" has classic Tahoe touches like reclaimed wood ceilings and ledge stone and river stone walls: it references the materials and the rustic nature of the Sierras in a bold way without being too theme-y.

BEAUTY: Painting--Kevin Peterson

The realistic work of Kevin Peterson shows scenes of children accompanied by what we normally think of as wild and dangerous animals but in this case, they seem to be acting as spiritual guardians, links to a preferred natural world that is ultimately less dangerous than the urban areas through which these children wander. It reminds me of the spirit animals called Daemons from "The Golden Compass" previously here.

BEAUTY: Interior--Barberia Royal in Mexico City

ROW Studio, under the direction of Álvaro Hernández Felix, Nadia Hernández Felix and Alfonso Maldonado Ochoa, just created a fantastic barber chop in Mexico City called Barberia Royal.

The description of the space on their blog:
"The lower half of the space relates in colors and materials to the long standing heritage of traditional barbershops including a black and white hexagonal tiles floor with a flower pattern and the Royal name greeting all the patrons at the entrance.

In contrast the ceiling is shaped with an intricate faceted surface that adapts to the changing heights of the space and the structural elements of the building finished with a laser-cut golden anodized aluminum reflective surface that mirrors the plan view of the shop and sharpens the edges of the volume creating a point of interest for the clients as they lay back on the service chairs.

The store plan is distributed into two equally important zones: the waiting area with a fully stocked courtesy bar, very comfortable leathered stools and sofas, shelves with exhibition of the best grooming products for sale that share the space with a real life buffalo head and a fully restored vintage Triumph motorcycle as decorative highlights; the service area is furnished with original chairs from the 1950s upholstered in mustard yellow each facing a large scale beveled mirror with a rounded gilded frame with golden heads of a lion, a wolf, a stag, a zebra, an elephant and a moose fixed onto its surfaces."

Aurora on Jupiter

NASA's Juno probe is finally in orbit around Jupiter!
And just a few days ago, NASA posted to their Instagram feed this video of auroras over Jupiter taken by the Hubble Space Telescope. Amazing...

Bright auroras on Jupiter! This composite video illustrates the auroras on Jupiter relative to their position on the giant planet. As on Earth, auroras are produced by the interaction of a planet's magnetic field with its atmosphere. The Jupiter auroras observed by our Hubble Space Telescope are some of the most active and brightest ever caught by Hubble, reaching intensities over a thousand times brighter than those seen on Earth. Hubble's sensitivity to ultraviolet light captures the glow of the auroras above Jupiter's cloud top. Fourth of July, our solar-powered Juno spacecraft will arrive at Jupiter after an almost five-year journey. In the evening of July 4, Juno will perform a suspenseful orbit insertion maneuver. Once in Jupiter’s orbit, the spacecraft will circle the Jovian world 37 times during 20 months, skimming to within 3,100 miles (5,000 km) above the cloud tops. This is the first time a spacecraft will orbit the poles of Jupiter, providing new answers to ongoing mysteries about the planet’s core, composition and magnetic fields. Credit: NASA, ESA, J. BEAUTY: Illustration--Emilia Dziubak

Close friends of mine know I have a thing for bunnies...and I always say at every Easter, it you want to see me turn into a five-year old boy, show me bunnies. The beautiful illustrations by Emilia Dziubak for this Polish children's story by Barbara Kosmowska about Tru the bunny look absolutely charming, and remind me so much of the lovely work of Michael Sowa (previously here) who portrays bunnies trying to maneuver and survive in a human world. The sweetness is touched by poignancy...

"Matilda's Dream" by Demdike Stare

I have always been a huge fan of ambient music (I heard Eno's "Music For Airports" in the late 70s and have been hooked ever since)..."Matilda's Dream" by Demdike Stare (DJ Sean Canty and producer Miles Whittaker) is completely hypnotizing. I can feel myself slipping into alpha brain waves as I listen...

"Stigmata I and II" by Tim Hecker

Enigmatic, ethereal, hypnotic. Ambient noise compositions by Tim Hecker. "Stigmata I" and "Stigmata II" from his album "Virgins."

BEAUTY: The World Interior--Jeanette Hubley

Check out this apartment aboard The World, the largest private residential cruise ship on the planet at 644 feet. Interior designer Jeanette Hubley outfitted a two bedroom apartment on the ship which, if one did not know, does not look like a ship cabin at all. The only give away is the metal railings in the bathroom to keep objects from falling off shelves in rough water.
